To christen the University of Derby?s new ?350,000 studio facilities and editing suites, a competition is being held which will grant two lucky bands or solo artists a free recording and video session at the University.
The opening of the new facilities, which was attended by music industry professionals and hosted a performance from Derby graduate and solo artist Jo Lewis, took place at the University?s Markeaton Street site in Derby; home to its Faculty of Arts, Design and Technology.
To enter the competition and gain a chance of winning one of the two recording sessions acts must simply upload a video and/or audio clip of themselves playing original material to the University?s ADT Faculty Facebook page. To do this simply visit?www.derby.ac.uk/win-a-session?or the Facebook page at?www.facebook.com/DerbyUniTech?and click on the ?Win A Session? tab. The acts must then rally up as many ?likes? for the song, that will be recorded if they win, by the end of Wednesday 21st November, at which time a shortlist of the most ?liked? songs will be drawn up and finally the best two will be chosen by a judges panel which will consist of lecturers and final year students.
John Crossley, University Lecturer in Electronics and Sound said, ?Our new studios are on a par with those used in the music industry. Any artist currently in the Charts would be more than happy to record their next single here.??
This is a huge opportunity for any budding musicians, and will no doubt give crucial experience in a top draw recording studio and create material to approach producers and record companies with, so get involved!
