Dow loses over 500 points, 4.3 percent (AFP)

NEW YORK (AFP) ? The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost more than 510 points, or 4.3 percent as global markets plunged Thursday on worries of a new worldwide economic slump.

The Nasdaq was down 4.9 percent slightly before closing, while the S&P 500 was off 4.6 percent.
